Background
This team project, guided by my Master’s program course HCDE 515: Accessibility and Inclusive Design, involved 3 co-design sessions, each lasting 60 to 90 minutes, with our legally blind participant "Ravi" (pseudonym).
Ravi’s insights were instrumental in designing this product that aims to enhance accessibility for individuals with visual impairments.
About Ravi
Diagnosis
Cone dystrophy leading to macular degeneration (diagnosed 10 years ago), affecting the area of the retina with the highest concentration of rod and cone cells.
Impacts on Daily Life
1) Limited peripheral vision + blurred vision
2) Only can see at a very close distance
3) Simple tasks become challenging
Solution
Accessibility settings to enable "Bus Buddy" and additional customization
2. Visual, audio, and haptic cues to ensure users board the right bus and get off at the right stop
